How to Export Your Nara Baby Data (and Keep Using It)
Step-by-step: export your baby's feeds, sleep and diapers from Nara Baby, what the file contains, and how to import it into another tracker without losing left and right sides.
Your Nara Baby history is yours, whether or not you subscribe. Nara lets every family export their records, and the export is a regular spreadsheet you can keep, share or bring into another app.
Here’s how to export it, what’s inside, and how to bring it into Robin Baby so the timeline keeps going. If you’re still deciding where to go next, see our comparison of free Nara Baby alternatives.
How to export from Nara Baby
Nara documents the export in its FAQ:
- Open Nara Baby and go to the main Activity screen.
- Tap the avatar next to your child’s name.
- Tap Export Data.
- Save the file somewhere you can find it again, such as Files on iPhone, your Downloads folder on Android, or an email to yourself.
Nara’s export starts from one child’s avatar, so expect a file per child. If you have twins or more than one child in Nara, repeat these steps for each one and keep the files clearly named.
You can export even without a subscription
Nara’s FAQ says families who don’t subscribe after the trial can still view and export their existing records, so you can export even after the trial ends.
What’s in the export
The file is a spreadsheet with one row per entry. Depending on what you logged, it includes:
- Breastfeeding, with the side and minutes for each side
- Bottles, with amounts
- Pumping sessions
- Sleep, with start and end times
- Diapers
- Solid foods
- Growth measurements such as weight, length and head size
- Medicine and temperature
- Milestones (“firsts”)
- Notes you added to entries
Keep a copy before you do anything else
Whatever you plan next, save the original file somewhere safe and leave it untouched. If an import goes wrong or you want to try a different app, you can always start again from the original.
Import your Nara export into Robin Baby
Robin Baby reads Nara’s export format directly. You don’t need to edit the file or map columns by hand.
- Install Robin Baby for iPhone or Android and add your child.
- Open Import from another app and choose your Nara file. The CSV and the Excel (.xlsx) version both work.
- If you have more than one child, pick which child this file belongs to.
- Check the time zone. It defaults to your phone’s, which is right for most families. If you logged in a different time zone, change it here so times land correctly.
- Review the preview: the activity types Robin recognized, the date range and how many events are ready.
- Confirm, then spot-check a few old and recent entries against Nara.
Importing is part of Robin Baby’s free plan. If something looks wrong, you can undo the whole import from Profile → Import history and try again.
Your left and right sides come with you
When a Nara feed has minutes for each breast, Robin Baby keeps them, so an imported feed shows “L 12 min · R 9 min”, just like one you timed in the app.
That history then feeds straight into Robin’s Left vs right insight, which shows how your nursing time splits between sides over days or weeks, so you can see at a glance whether one side is getting more time.
If Robin can’t read your file
If Robin can’t read any events from the file, the app suggests checking the time zone first. If the file still won’t import, tap Have us import it for you. The Robin Baby team imports it into your child’s timeline by hand and emails you when it’s done, usually within 24 hours.
After the import
Once your history is in, invite your partner or other caregivers from Profile → Invite Partner. The free plan includes up to three caregivers on one shared timeline.
Then pick a day to switch everyone’s logging over, so new entries all end up in one place. Keep your Nara export as a backup until you’re comfortable with the result.
Questions about exporting from Nara Baby
How do I export data from Nara Baby?
Open the Activity screen in Nara Baby, tap the avatar next to your child's name, and choose Export Data. Nara creates a spreadsheet file of that child's records that you can save or share.
Can I export Nara Baby data without a subscription?
Yes. According to Nara's FAQ, families who don't subscribe after the 7-day trial can still view and export their existing records. They just can't add new entries.
Does Nara Baby export all my children at once?
The export starts from one child's avatar, so plan on one file per child. If you have twins or more than one child, export each one and import each file into the matching child.
What can I do with my Nara Baby export?
Keep it as a backup, open it in a spreadsheet app, share it with your pediatrician, or import it into another tracker. Robin Baby reads Nara's export directly and turns it back into a timeline of feeds, sleep, diapers and more.
My Nara export turned into an Excel file. Is that a problem?
No. Sending a CSV through some messaging apps converts it to .xlsx. Robin Baby reads both the CSV and the Excel version of a Nara export.
Do left and right breastfeeding sides survive the import?
Yes. When a Nara feed has minutes for each side, Robin Baby keeps the left and right minutes instead of merging them into one total.
